Watched the Reagan biography on PBS tonight(I'm a Democrat)

I must say that I was very surprised to watch the biography of Ronald Reagan tonight. I have been trying to keep the NOVA schedule in my head so I can watch since I feel its the best programming on TV at this time. Next to ESPN SportsCenter.
What I found after arriving home late because of shopping at Albertsons for groceries for the week was the American Experience featuring the Life of Ronald Wilson Reagan. I have been brought up as a life long Democrat(life being 28 years) and not enjoying when a Republican takes office or there on completes an 8 year term!
Watching tonight I see a great man and a wonderful wife. A Man who has firm beliefs and an understanding of what family should be.
Now let me Deviate for a second and explain that I believe quite firmly that Jimmy Carter is one of the most amazing men I think our country has had a chance to follow and believe in since Lincoln.
Reagan I believe had a great opportunity and firm resolve which allowed the world to help break communism and its hold on people that could never distinguish between Marx and a tyrannical government.
Do I believe Reagan was a better man than Mikhail Gorbachev... NO.
Gorbachev was a man that made a much greater, and harder, choice than Reagan.
Gorbachev made a choice that he knew would kill his political life but made the world a better place.
Reagan's recipe for his historical remembrance was 1 part faith and 1 part luck.
Without Gorbachev making the choice to agree to an unheard of "back down" as a super power, Reagan would be nothing more than Bill Clinton, minus the lesbian wife, yes I have second hand confirmed proof. Clinton and Reagan both were wonderful speakers and had a charisma about them that allowed people to have faith in each.
I have more to say but I need to think before I move on. I hope someone understands the rambling I am writing.
I just wanted to BLOG about how surprised I was to find out what a good man Reagan was. It should be a whole other BLOG about how he hid his Mental decay, Alzheimer's, from America, and how Nancy helped make decision's a President with full mental capacity should have but at least we can all thank Reagan and the Lord, yes I am catholic, that Reagan had the correct people working along side him to make the decisions necessary in his time of need.
As MTV says, please Vote for something in 2004. Whatever it may be.
